Sewing | How to use the LCD screen on A150 for beginners
How not to use green screen. My filming disaster story.
Don’t stand too close to the green screen, casting shadows.
on brother’s A150 electric sewing machine. So let’s get started
Shadow colour which is similar to hair colour and eye colour became transparent too.
That’s why I didn’t use this footage.
That was the plan until…..
Hi everyone as mentioned in a previous video I’m going to go through how to use
the lcd screen on brothers A150 electric sewing machine.
So right now let’s look at what we have on the lcd screen.
By default you will see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 6 symbols.
The first one refers to the type of presser foot that you want to use.
For example, right now, it’s showing number 1,
and no. 1 refers to the utility stitch
on the left and in the utility stitch category, you
can choose 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
9 and 0. For example like, you want to select 11 there’s no such
number as 11 because it only runs from 1 to 9 and then 0. So if you want to
change to stitch number 0 you will be able to do
that. If you want to change to 12 you can’t do that
it’s either you choose no. 1
or no.2 . When you want to change your stitch to category
number two let’s say this. This stitch with
multiple patterns which also requires some other presser foot that
you may have to purchase, depending on what stitch you select and
the type of presser foot will sometimes show up here
like for example, S foot or P foot or
Q foot for quilting so let’s say we want to select that so
you can press on this
followed by “30” for quilting stitch foot.
this symbol which coincides with the symbol here.
and if we want to select the patterns on this category
Press on this button.
It will ask you “Okay to cancel the current pattern selection?” Yep then press
Ok. So we’ll go to pattern no. 1.
Pattern category no.1 when you press
Press this button again it will go to category no 2
So you can choose from no.1 to no. 19.
So if you press 20 nothing will appear it will go to no. 2 instead.
so let’s say we want to test out no.
Category no. 3. You press your pattern one more time
and it will go to category no.3 and next one, I’m going to explain is this
um preview of the… this is the preview of your stitch,
that means it’s a continuous stitch.
and also the foot, type of foot that you need is “N”
“N” foot this is a bit complicated to explain let’s go back to
Utility Stitch. Is it okay to change? Yep, it’s okay so let’s say
Utility Stitch, It will require a
foot, presser foot “J” and how do you tell it is the correct foot, whether it is foot “J”.
You can see from this in the middle of the presser foot here.
You’ll be able to see a “J”. Alphabet “J” .
for other foot,
that comes… For all the food that comes with
original brother’s presser foot, they will show you.. it will display an alphabet
here. Either it’s n or
it’s “J” so what type of food that you should use
with that stitch will be displayed here, so you won’t go wrong. If you want to buy
any food that’s not original you can do that
but you have to make sure whether it is the correct food. The next one I’m
gonna go through is width of the stitch. Width of the stitch
means how far is it gonna punch
away from the original point. Let me show you on the..
Let me show you on the sewing area. What it means by the
width and length of the stitch is… is this…. let me
show you… Let’s put down the presser foot and
Start stitching.
So this is the…
this is what it means by 0.0 width. The 0.0 width means
it’s only a straight line and then 2.5 means it is 2.5 millimetres.
that means one stitch, one stitch only covers…
one stitch only covers 2.5 millimeters on your ruler
If we change the width of the straight Utility Stitch, you’ll be moving
the position of the needle, because at
the moment the needle is on 0.0. Let’s say if
I put, let’s say if I put the.. put down the
position of the needle, that means I lower the needle I put a
ruler
I put a roller on the needle, it will coincide with this line here,
width of this number, let’s say I increase it to, increase it by pressing
“+”, I press “+”, this is 0.5
1, Oh, by the way you won’t be able to do it
when the needle is down. You have to
You have to lift,
you have to lift the needle.
The position of the sewing needle will actually move as you increase the width
so, sometimes we need to move the position of the stitch so you can
use this function to help you. However, if you
if you’re using… So when i press a minus it will move towards
the center of the sewing machine. The center of a sewing machine is
indicated by this line here. Next, I’m going to go through the stitch
length. At the moment it is…
By default it is 2.5. Let me.. Let me go back and change it. Yeah, you
see, when I press the… when I go back to the Utility stitch,
by default it is 2.5, so let’s take a look at
how 2.5 looks like. Let’s test that over here. So it’s 2.5,
and let’s take a look at how 2.5 looks like,
and then halfway through let’s change it to
5.0
Okay, then halfway through, Let’s change it to…
2.0
Okay let’s cut, so over here we can.. we can observe that 2.5
stitch length. It indicates the.. How far you want the stitch points to be.
Like for example this one, this is only 2mm apart.
From one stitch to another, and for the 5mm
stitch length, this is 5mm apart stitch length,
and then 2.5mm for this one. Of course using ruler it’s not… We cannot see how
accurate it is but I’m sure digitally they can do it much
more accurately than manually. So this is how it works for stitch
length but when it comes to let’s go to no.6
zig zag stitch let’s test it out before I mention anything.
So…
let’s go to..
4mm.
A wider stitch 4mm,
and then change to 2mm or 1mm
1mm
Let’s cut. So, this is…Stitch length is 4mm and this stitch
length is 1mm. So it’s pretty obvious what the
difference is for stitch length.
From one point to another, even though the stitch pattern is different. It is..
The stitch length is still
is 4mm away
and whereas for this the stitch length is
1mm away.
1mm away from the previous stitch.
When it comes to zigzag stitch, align it to the middle of
this, on your foot. On the “J” foot. Align it to the middle of
this foot. There’s a line here and start stitching.
You will see that
the zig zag… The line is right in the middle of the zig zag.
So it cuts across, it cuts across the zigzag line.
it cuts across the zigzag line, if you align it in the middle.
So this is useful when you need to stitch two fabric together.
And you want to join them together, so you want the
the joint to be in the middle of the zigzag stitch.
It’s similar for… Even if it is
1 mm away and I want it to be
the width of the stitch to be 4mm,
so let’s align it to the middle of the foot.
Slightly to the left,
and let’s begin. I want it to be the the length of the
stitch to be even closer,
from one from one stitch to the next to be even closer.
If you change it to zero, it will be sewing on the same point.
you can keep sewing on the same point, if you change your
stitch length to zero.
But if you want it to be tight you must at least give it a
number let’s say 0.5 mm,
so it would just crawl really slowly
forward.
Let’s just increase the stitch to 3.
Or else we will be here the whole day. There it is. So if you align your
foot, if you align the middle of your foot to this line,
and you… if you have your stitch width to 2.0…
to 4.0 mm, it will be 2.0 mm here
and 2.0mm here
and then the stitch length is..stitch length is 3.0mm from
one point to the next that means this
these two points is 3 mm. That’s it for this video!!!
I hope you understood what I was trying to explain regarding
the width of the stitch and the length of
the stitch. It can be a bit confusing
sometimes and if you like my content please give me a like and subscribe and
share with your friends. Hopefully next round, next video, I’ll be
showing you how to use the customised stitching
function on this A150 model which is why i bought this machine.
And i’ll see you in the next video.
Bye!!
