Sewing | Pedal and stitch test

Hi everyone, my name is Michele.

Today in my sewing diary, I am testing out the foot pedal that comes with the sewing machine

& some basic stitches.

First let me remove the pedal from the packaging

and plug it into the machine.

Pretend that this is my foot, let’s begin.

Ooops! I need to lower the presser foot.

Let’s try again.

I find that the pedal is quite firm, and I need to press quite hard to initiate 1 stitch.

I think it gives the user a good control, provided the speed slider is at the lowest mark.

Everything went well until ,

The needle got stuck, let me take a look.

Let me open up the bobbin compartment and see if I can pull out the knots.

As you can see here, I am struggling to open the bobbin acover.

but I found out that I need to press harder on the button before pulling to the right.

Remember to press then pull, and it will pop out easily.

I took out the bobbin and try to ease out any knots stuck inside.

by turning the dial on the right side of the machine back and forth.

Pulling and turning the dial slowly, releasing the knots inside.

But seems like the thread is stuck to one of the parts in there.

I will need to open the whole needle compartment.

Let’s begin by removing the presser foot.

Lift up the presser foot lever.

Press this black button to release the presser foot

Now let’s remove the needle.

Use the thick screwdriver that comes with the machine.

Hold the needle with your left hand and unscrew with your right hand.

When you remove the needle observe that there is a flat side to the needle.

And it needs to face backwards when you reinstall it again.

Next we will remove the screws with this almost round metal plate

So that we can remove the metal plate that covers the sewing compartment.

So that we can remove the metal plate that covers the sewing compartment.

At first I tried to remove only the metal plate,

Seems like I can’t do that, so I have to remove this metal and plastic cover together.

Slide it out because there’s a catch on the right hand side of the whole plate.

This shot is a bit blur, but where the arrow is pointing that’s where the thread got caught.

Let me remove it.

Before that let me just put back the bobbin holder properly and match up this part.

Now let me remove that thread.

And make sure this bobbin holder turns freely.

Let’s put back the cover.

Sliding the catch below where the arrow is pointing.

Pressing the opposite corner until you hear a loud click.

Wind back the screws with my fingers which is much easier.

Then tighten it with the tool .

Now let me put back the needle.

Flat side to the back.

Slide it up wards just below the number 6.

Until you reach the stopper.

Tighten the screw.

Put back the presser foot.

Pressing the black button at the back

Lower the presser foot.

When you lift the presser foot again, it’s all done.

Let me show it one more time from the front view.

Align the notch on the holder with the thin metal bar on the presser foot

Press the black button at the back with your right hand, hold it and lower the presser foot lever with your left. Done!

Replace the bobbin cover.

Thread the needle.

Unfortunately it doesn’t thread automatically.

That’s because I didn’t align the dial to face upwards.

Remember to check that this line matches the line on the machine.

After which the automatic threading will only work.

Let’s test out some simple stitches.

Slide the upper thread under the presser foot and pull it backwards.

Place both the top thread and bobbin thread behind the sewing machine like this.

Let’s test sew.

There’s something wrong with the upper thread tension.

Let me try and loosen it to no 3

I think it looks better.

I want to try to loosen it to no 2 and see how it looks.

Let me try the reverse stitch function.

Let’s have a look at the comparison.

The one on the most left is the reverse stitch, followed by stitch with tension no 2 then tension no 3.

The stitches looks better with tension no 2.

Thats all for this video! Next video I’ll be exploring

how to the use of the LCD and

explore how to use the stitches! See you there!
