Soup | Onion and Potato Soup

Hello! Everyone!

Today I’m making Onion and Potato Soup!

I’ve always wondered how it tastes like,

I’m so used to chinese style soup with pork broth. This is so different!

Before I start, I need some music.

Hmm~~ That’s much better!

Alright we start with boiling a pot of water with added salt.

Add in the same portion of potatoes and onions into the pot

Careful not to drop any like me.

2 hours later…

The soup amount would have reduced.

You can see a ring of caramelised onion and potato bits on the edges.

Now, let’s bring out my weapon.

Nobody messes with my power tool.

While I’m pureeing,

Don’t forget to subscribe by clicking the bell icon on the right.

Alright I’m almost done!

Now let me check that it has a smooth

consistent texture with my wooden spoon.

Yeap! Done, smooth and thick!

Finally, let’s make sure it’s a piping hot to enjoy.

Look how thick the soup is from the potato starch.

I’m so hungry, I’m going to have a bigger portion.

Now let’s spice up this soup.

Grounded black pepper from the hillside of North Borneo.

Sarawak has the best pepper produce, trust me.

Then some home grown spring onions chopped.

These onions are so juicy they stick to my fingers.

A pinch of ground nutmeg.

Oops. Let me find the sunken spice.

Got it!

More nutmeg please.

Alright, I think that’s enough before it makes me hallucinate.

Never separate French food and butter or cream.

Let’s add some butter please.

Melt, melt melt faster!

Then adding to the creaminess, some more cream!

For those who hasn’t seen creams before, they don’t look like this.

I froze them to keep them from spoiling.

I use too little to finish up one pack at a time.

You’re not suppose to freeze cream,

the fat and the buttermilk can separate.

So if you want to, you can sieve the defrosted

cream to make butter at home.

Ok, let’s stir and taste it.

Hmmm, I think …

Let me taste one more time..

Definitely need more pepper and cream.

Now I totally understand the purpose of cream in French soup.

More cream.

Lumpy cream I should say.

It’s time to finish the whole bowl.

Bon appetite!

Thanks for watching! See you in the next video! Adios!
